30/4/2016 0 Comments Sun conjunct MoonThe common name for this placement is the New Moon. The New Moon is the alignment of the sun and moon, making the shadow of the moon face the earth. Its shadow makes the moon appear invisible. The New Moon will always be in the same sign as the sun, just as the Full Moon will always be in the opposing sign of the sun. When a person’s Sun sign aligns with their moon, they are a generally more decisive person due to the alignment of the wants and needs, the spirit and receptivity, the external personality and the internal personality. People with their Sun conjuncting their Moon may find themselves relating more to descriptions of their sun signs because of internal versus external alignment. They take a similar path in adulthood as aspired in childhood; the moon, being the initial personality from birth, rules how we are as children, and the sun, being the external personality through learning, rules who we become as we grow. The alignment of these two leads to connecting decisions concerning the future, wants, and needs. As a downside, there may be too much concentration on account of the sun and moon. Learning potential concerning these planets is hindered due to the similarity, and it may also be seen as a type of overcompensation, especially if one planet is more comfortable in the planet than the other (ex. Cancer sun, Cancer moon; there is more femininity and lack of action, making the personality more reserved and focused on internal qualities versus external. The focus creates lacking energy and learning in the sun, so it’s basically holding the native back.) The power of the sun over the moon and vice versa depends greatly on many things. First of all, certain signs that they occupy can weaken the sun, strengthen the moon, and vice versa; secondly, aspects to the sun and moon also show great importance. Certain aspects are capable of strengthening the sun and weakening the moon, and the inner or outer personality may be completely hidden with the aspects. Finally, the Houses that the sun and moon occupy can make or break both personalities; although the personalities have the same qualities, they have different agendas, and not everything works in both agendas. The power of both planets shows extreme importance, and this applies to basically all conjunctions.
